America was introduced to The Triplets: Vicky, Sylvia, and Diana as MTV sensations in the 1990’s. When the young sisters swept to victory in the network’s Basement Tapes Video contest, they were immediately signed to a major recording label. The Triplets released the smash hit single, “You Don’t Have To Go Home Tonight and Sunrise.” Crowds flocked to their concerts to hear the trio’s impeccable  harmony and listen to their distinctive lead vocal styles. The group radiated a dynamic stage presence and flaunted a cross-cultural appeal that was rare in those days.

The Triplets were very much ahead of their time, breaking records well before Latin pop changed America’s musical landscape. In 1991 The American Music Awards honored them with Best New Group and Best Pop Vocal. The Triplets became Grammy nominees for best Latin Pop in 1993.

Shortly after, the sisters mysteriously disappeared, leaving fans wondering what happened. So what did happen? Disenchanted with the music industry, the trio took a long hiatus. During this time, the sisters founded a successful translation company that kept them quite busy, in turn music took a back seat for quite a while. Then in 2016, they started the journey back into the spotlight, releasing the album “Independence Road.” In 2022 they released a beautiful rendition of The Beatles song “Because.”

Now, for 2023, “Misterio de la Mujer” is to be launched, front and center. Digging into their Latin roots again, a compilation of five songs expressing where they’ve been and where they’re headed. ”Their voices and harmonies are unmistakable.  Misterio de la Mujer contains songs like “Misterio De la Mujer” title track with its sexy rumba reminiscent of Santana groove.  “Eres Unico” a sweet power ballad and, “Siete Mares” a anthemic tune.

The Triplets ability to craft songs with strong narratives, rich melodies and incredible harmonies continues to blossom. Their stylistic range has expanded adding depth and texture to their music and songwriting.  In other words, they’re back — even though in many ways, they never really left.

“We continued to perform spiritual music, which keeps us uplifted and positive and on our own terms.” In stepping away for a while it gave us a new perspective. “We needed to open up our horizons and step out of the limelight for a while to get a better view. It also meant letting ourselves be spontaneous and surrender to our Latin heritage.”

As daughters of a Mexican father and an American mother, they were raised bilingually in picturesque San Miguel de Allende, Mexico before moving to NYC to pursue their musical dreams at age 17.

Now, Sylvia and Vicky live in Lexington, Kentucky, and record in a state of the art studio built by Vicky’s husband, and producer: Jeff Myers. Diana resides in Texas and contributes as a co-writer on their albums. Despite being far apart as a family their sound has only grown, their cultural roots deepened, and it is evident with these extraordinary songs that they have opened up to their true selves once again.

“Life is a mystery, and it can feel complicated.  So, when you mature you learn to go with the flow and take the ride!” Vicky says.

Estados Unidos llegó a conocer a The Triplets—Vicky, Sylvia y Diana – como un éxito de MTV, cuando las jóvenes hermanas se llevaron la victoria en el concurso Basement Tapes (Videos del sótano) de la red televisiva. Inmediatamente contratadas por una disquera conocida, lanzaron la exitosa canción “You Don’t Have To Go Home Tonight” y “Sunrise” del CD “Blood is Thicker Than Water” y en español “La Fuerza del Parentesco”. Multitudes acudieron a sus conciertos, donde el trio armonizaba impecablemente, mostraron estilos de vocalización distintivos, irradiaron una presencia dinámica en el escenario, e hicieron alarde de un encanto intercultural que era poco común en esa época.

Al fin y al cabo, esto ocurrió a principio de los ‘90s, antes que la música pop latina cambiara el panorama musical. The Triplets estaban muy adelantadas a la época. En 1991, American Music Awards las premió como BEST NEW GROUP (Mejor grupo nuevo) y BEST POP VOCAL (Mejor vocal pop). En 1993, fueron nominadas a un premio Grammy por mejor Pop Latino con la colección y éxito “Algo Mas Que Amor” y así conocidas en el mundo latino como “Las Triplets.”

Es entonces que las hermanas desaparecieron del escenario y sus seguidores se quedaron preguntándose qué había pasado, ¡un misterio!

Entonces, ¿qué pasó? Desencantadas con el negocio de la música tomaron un largo receso. Mientras tanto, las hermanas fundaron una compañía de traducciones exitosa que las mantuvo bastante ocupadas. La música pasó a segundo plano por un tiempo.
Luego, en 2016 empezaron la trayectoria de vuelta al escenario y a la composición de temas. The Triplets lanzaron “Independence Road” en 2016 seguido por el lanzamiento en 2022 de la interpretación de la canción de Los Beatles “Because.”

Ahora, en 2023 “Misterio de la Mujer” está por lanzarse de manera destacada. Recurriendo a sus raíces latinas nuevamente, una compilación de canciones expresando dónde han estado y hacia dónde se dirigen, sus voces y musicalidad son inconfundibles. “Misterio de la Mujer” incluye canciones como “Misterio de la Mujer,” un tema evocativa con su rumba atractiva y sabor a Santana. “Eres Único” una dulce pero poderosa balada y también, “Siete Mares” una melodía auténtica y antémica.
Su habilidad de componer canciones con fuertes narrativas, sonoras melodías e increíble musicalidad continúa floreciendo.

Su rango estilístico se ha expandido agregándole profundidad y textura a su música y composición. En otras palabras, están de vuelta –aunque de muchas maneras, nunca se hayan ido. “Hemos continuado interpretando música espiritual, lo que nos ha mantenido elevadas y positivas y en nuestros propios términos.” El dar un paso atrás por un tiempo nos dió una nueva perspectiva. “Necesitábamos ampliar nuestros horizontes y salir del protagonismo por un tiempo para obtener la vista artística. Esto también nos permitió ser espontáneas y ceder a nuestra herencia latina.”

Como hijas de un padre mexicano y una madre americana, fueron criadas de manera bilingüe en el pintoresco San Miguel de Allende, México antes de mudarse a NYC para seguir sus sueños musicales a la edad de 17. Por eso, cuando Sylvia y Vicky decidieron mudarse a Lexington, Kentucky, sintieron que era el momento preciso para regresar al torrente musical.

Grabado en un profesional el estudio,Tower Station Studios construido por el esposo de Vicky y el productor Jeff Myers, primero vinieron Independence Road y luego, continuando la saga de The Triplets llegó “Misterio de la Mujer.”

El grupo se mantiene como un trio, aunque Diana ahora contribuye exclusivamente como co-guionista desde su sede principal en Texas. Pero su sonido ha crecido, sus raíces culturales se han profundizado, y es evidente con estas canciones extraordinarias que se han abierto a sus identidades auténticas nuevamente. “La vida es un misterio, y puede sentirse complicada. Entonces, al madurar uno aprende a fluir con los cambios y ¡dar el paseo! ¡inspirándose en el Misterio de la vida!” asegura Vicky.
